NLP is a term used quite a lot when it comes to media monitoring and media analysis. But what does this term actually mean, and why is it important?
NLP stands for Natural Language Processing and refers to a component of machine learning that is able to process, sort and categorise various elements of text.
Using the mechanics of language, NLP is able to recognise each word according to its word class.
This means that NLP can look at any text and read each individual word as either a noun, verb or adjective. NLP is able to identify the topics of discussion and net tonality/sentiment of the text.
